Trump Urges Republicans to Win Midterms to Protect Administration Agenda
Speaking at an event in Iowa, Trump highlighted the historical difficulty presidents face during midterm contests, telling the crowd, "Even if it's a Democrat or Republican, whoever wins the presidency has a hard time with the midterms," as stated by reports.
He warned that electoral losses could have serious consequences for his agenda, saying, “If we lose the midterms, you’ll lose so many of the things that we’re talking about — so many of the assets that we’re talking about, so many of the tax cuts that we’re talking about — and it would lead to very bad things. We got to win the midterms.”
Throughout his remarks, Trump repeatedly underscored the need to maintain Republican majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, portraying the midterm elections as a pivotal moment for the future of his policies.
Emphasizing the start of an active campaign effort, he told supporters, "I'm here because I love Iowa. But I'm (also) here because we're starting the campaign to win the midterms. Got to win the midterms. That means the Senate and it means the House," adding that he campaigns "hard."
Trump also made clear that he intends to be highly active on the campaign trail in the coming months and encouraged his base not to underestimate the importance of the midterm vote, stating, "We're going to really work hard on winning the midterms."
The midterm elections, scheduled for Nov. 3, will decide control of all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, along with roughly one-third of the Senate, according to election details.
