Iowa ranks among Top Ten in Cato Institute’s Freedom in the 50 States index

Governor Reynolds issued the following statement today after the Cato Institute’s new Freedom in the 50 States index was released. The study ranks American states according to how their public policies affect individual economic, social, and personal freedoms.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds ranks 5th nationally among U.S. governors, and Iowa ranks 9th among all states.

“Iowa is proud to be a state where everyone has the freedom to flourish and I’m grateful for Cato Institute’s recognition of the work my administration and the legislature have done in recent years to make that possible,” said Governor Kim Reynolds. “With a strong focus on commonsense, conservative policies and fiscal responsibility, we’ve cut taxes across the board empowering Iowans to keep more of their own money, improved government efficiency to deliver greater value to taxpayers, and expanded educational freedom so students and families can pursue the path best for them. These efforts will continue to strengthen Iowa’s momentum and position our state for even greater growth and opportunity in the years ahead.”
